I am looking forward to being on the stage again with some of my fellow Virgin Strive Challenge team members this Friday at The Telegraph Adventure & Travel Show.
Last summer i took on one of the biggest challenges of my life. I always knew it was going to push my body and mind to the limit, and while that tapped into my adventurous spirit, it wasn’t the only reason that the Virgin Strive Challenge excited me so much.
The idea behind the challenge came from my desire to show people how unbelievably empowering it can be to push oneself in life. Through our charity, Big Change Charitable Trust, we created it to be a vehicle for a conversation about the all important life skills to children need to thrive.
Skills like goal-setting, resilience, communication and having a positive perspective are so crucial to a child’s development. This was the foundation that the Virgin Strive Challenge was built on.
Last summer a core team of us travelled from London to the Summit of the Matterhorn (the most iconic mountain in Switzerland) entirely under human power. We were joined by hundreds of other Strivers on different parts of the journey and we raised over £750,000 to projects that teach these all important life skills to children around the UK.
You can see how we got on with the video above.
Myself, Noah and the amazing ex-gang leader turned social activist Karl Lokko will not only be talking about our Virgin Strive Challenge adventure this Friday, but also what we are planning next.
Hope to see you there.
