Following last year’s critically acclaimed BBC Three series in South Africa, this time Reggie has journeyed to the Motherland for a new 3 part series to find out what makes some young Russians tick – from far-right hate groups to wannabe supermodels. Here are the episodes in more detail:
Far Right and Proud: Reggie travels to Moscow to meet some of the country’s most dangerous people – the nationalists. From training with knife-wielding, far-right extremists to meeting with migrants who live in constant fear of racist attacks, Reggie questions what it means to be a true Russian. (First broadcast on the 13th April 2015 on BBC 3)
Gay and Under Attack: A year after the introduction of the controversial Anti-Gay Propaganda Law, Reggie travels to Russia, the hardest place to be gay in Europe. Reggie spends time on both sides of the battle lines – with the Queerfest team as they face the daily fight to keep their festival open, and the homophobes who want to see it closed. (First broadcast on the 20th April 2015 on BBC 3)
Teen Model Factory: Siberia is known around the world for its frigid temperatures, but within the fashion world it is famous for being home to the world’s most beautiful women. Reggie looks at the Russian modelling industry where girls as young as 12 are paraded in the hope their looks will get them noticed. But how likely is it that they will succeed? (First broadcast 27th April 2015 on BBC 3).
